VDL Mast Solutions installs masts for an important transport link

On behalf of the Municipality of Rotterdam, VDL Mast Solutions successfully completed the installation of new outreach poles and gantries at the busy Kralingseplein. This roundabout is one of the region’s key junctions and connects Rotterdam, Capelle aan den IJssel and the A16/Brienenoord Bridge.

With the installation of these masts and gantries, the infrastructure at Kralingseplein is once again fit for the future, and the square meets the highest standards in terms of quality and road safety.

Implementation in collaboration with specialised partners
For the installation of the masts and gantries, VDL Mast Solutions worked closely with several partners, each with their own area of expertise:

VSVK – installing foundation tubes
Fugro – geotechnical investigation
Hoeflake – electrical engineering work
BUKO – traffic management measures
Boskalis – asphalting work

Thanks to this collaboration, the work could be carried out efficiently, safely and according to schedule.

Complex installation on a busy roundabout
Kralingseplein is a heavily used roundabout, with a high volume of lorry traffic passing through every day. During the works, the roundabout had to remain fully accessible, making the project even more challenging.

Through careful planning, tight coordination and flexible execution, the installation of the new cantilever signposts and gantries was completed with minimal disruption to road users.
