Based in Oss, Brabant, the company was established in 1947 as Kaal Technische Aanneming and began with contracting work, groundworks and the installation of cable networks. The production of lighting columns started for internal use and, from 1966 onwards, developed into the core activity: designing and manufacturing mast structures. Following years of growth, including a name change to Kaal Masten, the company was acquired by the VDL Groep on 6 July 2017 and has since continued as part of VDL Mast Solutions.

From these modest beginnings, VDL Mast Solutions grew into a leading manufacturer of various types of masts. To offer our customers a complete solution, we not only established a production facility but also a dedicated engineering department to calculate and design mast structures. In addition, we assembled a field service team, enabling us to carry out installation alongside engineering and production. This allows us to execute the entire process seamlessly.

In 1994, we had our quality management system certified, making us the first mast manufacturer to receive ISO 9001 certification. In 2017, VDL Mast Solutions proudly became part of the VDL Groep. Over the past decades, VDL Mast Solutions has evolved into a fully fledged mast manufacturer, with various activities under one roof.
