Our production facilities are designed to create a local impact, with a focus on reducing emissions rather than simply offsetting them through CO₂ reduction measures. In addition, our products actively contribute to sustainability, for example through applications for electric vehicle charging, overhead lines for public transport and even wind power.

To extend the lifespan of our products, we use advanced techniques such as HMR and our specialised coating system. Regular inspections and maintenance keep our masts performing at their best, while refurbishing gives used products a new lease of life. One of the techniques we use is cold technology for the production of conical masts, which results in significant energy savings and a reduction in harmful emissions. We also use the Environmental Barometer to continuously monitor and improve our environmental performance. Using MMI and EPD calculations, we can optimise the environmental impact of our products throughout their entire life cycle, enabling transparency and improved environmental performance.

At VDL Mast Solutions, we focus on making a real impact in our immediate surroundings. We do this by actively promoting local sustainability and improving the living environment. Our initiatives include sustainable new-build and redevelopment projects, using environmentally friendly materials and energy-efficient methods. In addition, we promote sustainable mobility by using electric vehicles within and outside our factories, helping to reduce our emissions. Our expertise in infrastructure further contributes to optimising public spaces, improving traffic flow and enhancing the liveability of the surrounding area. At VDL, our ambition is to make a structured contribution to the UN’s sustainability goals. To achieve this, we have entered into a partnership with UNICEF, the United Nations organisation dedicated to children’s rights. Together, we are mapping the various parts of our supply chain to ensure that the raw materials we use are free from child labour. UNICEF is also supporting us in establishing a framework that will enable us to demonstrate VDL’s contribution to the global sustainability goals.
