General
VDL Group welcomes you to this website and appreciates your interest in our company and our products and services. VDL Group attaches great importance to your privacy. That is why we consider it important to inform you about how we handle your personal data. This privacy policy applies to all personal data that visitors leave on the website of VDL Groep B.V. or its subsidiaries. For the sake of transparency, we have described in this privacy policy what we do with this data.
Types of personal data
The personal data processed by VDL via the website often concern your contact details such as name and email address, a search query you enter, or a question you ask in the contact form. In addition, through the features ‘Vacancies, Working at VDL, Internships & Training, and Contact’ you can search for vacancies, and these search queries may also be stored and linked to, for example, your IP address, as well as the information a website visitor uploads or enters on the website. Of course, we also process uploaded CVs and cover letters.
Furthermore, information may be stored automatically about you as a visitor to this website, such as your IP address and your click behavior. We often collect this information directly through your visit using so-called cookies. You can find more information about this in the cookie statement.
Please note that even if you visit the website as a business customer, we regard this information as (indirect) personal data and therefore ensure that your privacy is protected.
Purpose of processing personal data
Data you provide via the website to VDL Groep are processed by us for general business purposes, such as providing information about specific products and services. With the stored personal data, we can then contact you.
Your data may also be used for sending digital newsletters, provided that you have given your explicit consent for this. We regard this form of contact as VDL’s legitimate interest.
In addition, the website is also intended as a recruitment channel, and vacancies are displayed through the website. These processing activities are likewise regarded as VDL’s legitimate interest, as well as necessary for the execution (or preparation) of an employment contract.
Recipients
The processing activities include, in any case, the transfer of personal data within VDL Groep. This website serves as a central point, and personal data are forwarded to the relevant entity you wish to approach as a business customer or applicant. Naturally, these personal data are only shared when there is a necessary reason and solely with recipients for whom the personal data are relevant. It is possible that your data may be shared with foreign VDL entities.
If VDL believes that you are using the website unlawfully, this may constitute a reason to forward your personal data to a (legal) third party.
Our website contains various buttons that provide access to social media channels. If you use these social media buttons, the privacy statement of the respective social media provider applies, and they will further store your personal data. VDL has no influence on, and does not accept responsibility for, the use of social media buttons on the VDL website.
Retention period
VDL Groep does not retain your data longer than strictly necessary. For the purposes described above, a retention period of 6 months is considered reasonable. In addition, VDL may retain anonymized data for statistical and research purposes.

If VDL has requested and obtained your consent, these application details may be stored for a maximum of one year.
